What is the dress code for the wedding?
We are asking our guests to be in formal attire. We kindly request that you wear a suit and tie, a full-or ankle-length dress, or elegant separates. We appreciate you helping us make this a special night!
What time is the ceremony?
Our ceremony will begin promptly at 5:30 pm. Please arrive at the William Aiken House at least 20 minutes ahead of the ceremony start time to ensure you have enough time to be seated.
What will the weather be like?
The average high in Charleston in April is 73 degrees Fahrenheit and the average low is 61 degrees. While we hope for a warm and sunny wedding weekend, please monitor the weather in advance and pack accordingly!
Will the wedding be outdoors?
Our ceremony, dinner, and reception will be outdoors in the garden, while cocktail hour will take place indoors. Guests will walk through the venue on paved pathways, but will need to step on grass turf to take their seats.
Will there be transportation provided?
We will not be providing organized transportation for the weekend. All of our weekend events and hotel blocks are within just a few blocks of one another. We encourage our guests to take a short stroll and admire historic Charleston! If you require transportation, please find parking information below.
Will there be parking on site at the wedding?
The William Aiken House is located on upper King Street. So while they do not offer on-site parking, there is metered street parking available nearby, as well as the Visitor’s Center Parking Garage. Plus, the William Aiken House is conveniently located within walking distance to several downtown hotels.
Is the William Aiken House handicap accessible?
Yes! All of the grounds and the house are handicap accessible, including an elevator for second-floor access and handicap-accessible restrooms on each floor.
Are additional guests allowed?
Due to space and planning considerations, we are only able to accommodate guests formally listed on the invitation. If your invitation includes "and Guest," you are welcome to bring a plus-one. Please include their full name on the online RSVP form by clicking "Edit" next to "Guest."
Are children invited?
While we adore your little ones, we are respectfully requesting that the weekend events be adults-only. We hope you can enjoy some time off to celebrate with us! If you would like assistance with finding a sitter in the area, please don't hesitate to reach out.
